Are we ready to cope with the significant risk of flooding to homes in the UK as our climate changes? If you have experienced flooding in your own home, you will understand the devasting impact it had on you and your family or business.
A huge amount of work has taken place since the Workshop I attended with Brian Berry, CEO of the Federation of Master Builders, on 19th May to create an Action Plan to Build Resilience against Flooding.

This work has culminated in the launch of The FloodReady 2025 Report yesterday as one of the events during 'Flood Action Week' organised by the Environment Agency with the aim to encourage long-term preparedness for future floods.
The Minister Emma Hardy MP who spoke at the Launch had given full support to the aspirations of the report to find solutions to mitigate the impact of flooding. Around 6.3 million properties are currently at risk from surface water flooding so action is needed.

The FloodReady 2025 Report is an independent review of property flood resilience led by Professor Peter Bonfield. it is a working document with 21 recommendations. It calls to action the government, local authorities, insurers, lenders, product regulators, builder merchants, builders, housing associations, and property owners to all work together to build future flood resilience.

We need to make flood protection as common as fire protection in our homes!
